Podcasting is a fun way to go alongside your regular business. If you are working in a conventional office and have enough time on your hands, you can start podcasting in the same category. If you are working from home, own a website or a blog, and if you work for a website, you can start a podcast relating to the content on your website. In this way, you can find sponsors, advertisers, and affiliates.
Jeff Rose works in the finance industry and shares the story of his first sponsor from podcasting. He got a sponsor who was willing to pay 8000 USD only to put a short video clip at the start of his podcasts. If you are unaware of how much money you can make from podcasting alone, you can get the idea from the abovementioned example that you can earn a lot from sponsors and affiliates only. Earning through podcasting does not stop here. A very famous internet personality; Kohn Lee Dumas has a podcast called Take the Entrepreneur On Fire. He reported a net income of over 400,000 USD in 2018, from podcasting only.
The following are the steps to move forward in podcasting. First, you have to find your niche; the category of topics in which you can easily have a decent discussion. Secondly, you have to find the means of growing your audience, advertising yourself, and having organic traffic on your podcast. Last but not the least, using your audience, you have to find means to monetize your podcast and get sponsors. As fun as it sounds, sitting back talking about the topics you like and earning money, is quite difficult but worth the effort. What’s difficult in pursuing podcasting is the effort that goes behind writing a script, recording your podcast, editing it, and then uploading it on your desired platform.
